TECH MATE HUB
Returns, Refunds & Warranty Policy
Australian E-commerce Store | Client Review Draft | Last updated 11 August 2026
|
This policy applies to products purchased from the Tech Mate Hub online store. It explains our voluntary change-of-mind returns, faulty-product remedies and warranty position. Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. |
1. Australian Consumer Law Rights
Products sold by Tech Mate Hub come with automatic consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law. If a product does not meet an applicable consumer guarantee, the available remedy depends on the nature and seriousness of the problem.
For a major problem, the customer may be entitled to choose a refund or replacement. For a minor problem, Tech Mate Hub may first provide an appropriate repair or other remedy within a reasonable time. These statutory rights apply regardless of any separate manufacturer warranty or voluntary store return period.
Tech Mate Hub will not require customers to deal only with the manufacturer where the seller is responsible for providing a remedy under Australian Consumer Law.
2. 14-Day Change-of-Mind Returns
Tech Mate Hub offers a voluntary 14-day change-of-mind return period for eligible online purchases. A return request must be made within 14 days of delivery.
To qualify for a change-of-mind return, the product must generally be:
● unused and in a condition suitable for resale;
● returned with the accessories and components originally supplied;
● accompanied by reasonable proof of purchase; and
● returned with the original packaging where reasonably possible.
For approved change-of-mind returns, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs unless Tech Mate Hub agrees otherwise.
Change-of-Mind Exclusions
Change-of-mind returns may not be accepted for:
● products that have been used, installed, modified or damaged after delivery;
● opened hygiene-sensitive products where resale would be inappropriate;
● activated digital products, software licences or electronically delivered products;
● special-order or personalised products;
● gift cards; or
● clearance or final-sale products where the change-of-mind exclusion was clearly disclosed before purchase.
These exclusions apply only to voluntary change-of-mind returns. They do not remove any rights that apply to faulty, unsafe, misdescribed or otherwise non-compliant goods under Australian Consumer Law.
3. Faulty, Unsafe or Misdescribed Products
If a product is faulty, unsafe, materially different from its description, not fit for a purpose that was represented to the customer, or otherwise fails to meet an applicable consumer guarantee, contact Tech Mate Hub so the issue can be assessed.
We may reasonably ask for:
● the order number, receipt or other reasonable proof of purchase;
● a description of the problem;
● photographs or video where useful; and
● return of the product where reasonably required for assessment.
A faulty product does not need to be returned in its original packaging in order for a customer to exercise applicable Australian Consumer Law rights.
Major Problems
Where a product has a major problem under Australian Consumer Law, the customer may be entitled to reject the product and choose between a refund or replacement of the same type, subject to the circumstances and applicable law.
Minor Problems
Where the problem is minor, Tech Mate Hub may choose to repair the product or otherwise fix the problem free of charge within a reasonable time. If the problem cannot be fixed within a reasonable time, further remedies may become available under Australian Consumer Law.
4. Incorrect Items or Transit Damage
If Tech Mate Hub sends the wrong product, or a product arrives damaged in transit, contact us as soon as reasonably practical. Prompt notice helps us investigate the shipment and resolve the issue quickly, but it does not create an artificial deadline that removes statutory consumer rights.
Where useful, we may request photographs of the parcel, shipping label and product.
5. Return Shipping and Assessment Costs
For a voluntary change-of-mind return, return postage is normally paid by the customer.
For a product claimed to be faulty, customers are generally responsible for returning products that can be posted or easily returned. If Tech Mate Hub confirms that the product has a problem covered by Australian Consumer Law, we will reimburse reasonable return costs already paid where required by law.
For faulty products that are large, heavy or difficult to return, Tech Mate Hub will arrange or cover appropriate collection or shipping where required by Australian Consumer Law.
If an assessment finds that a product does not have a fault covered by this policy or Australian Consumer Law, any proposed collection or inspection charge will be communicated in advance where such a charge is permitted.
6. Refunds
Approved refunds will generally be returned using the original payment method unless Tech Mate Hub and the customer agree to another lawful method.
Refunds are processed promptly after approval. Banks, card issuers and payment providers may require additional processing time before the funds appear in the customer’s account.
Where Australian Consumer Law requires a full refund for a major product problem, Tech Mate Hub will not reduce the refund simply because the customer used the product before the problem became apparent.
7. Warranty
Some products sold by Tech Mate Hub may include a manufacturer warranty. The duration and conditions of a manufacturer warranty vary by product and manufacturer and may be provided on the product page, packaging or accompanying documentation.
Manufacturer warranties are additional to, and do not replace, the automatic consumer guarantees available under Australian Consumer Law. A customer may still have statutory rights after a stated manufacturer warranty has expired.
Unless Tech Mate Hub expressly provides a separate written product warranty for a particular item, the sale of a product does not create an additional fixed-term Tech Mate Hub warranty beyond applicable consumer guarantees and any manufacturer warranty supplied with that product.
8. Issues Not Caused by a Product Fault
A remedy under consumer guarantees may not apply where the problem was caused after supply by circumstances such as:
● accidental or physical damage;
● misuse or use contrary to supplied instructions;
● incorrect installation by the customer or an unauthorised third party;
● unauthorised modification or repair;
● use with incompatible equipment where accurate compatibility information was provided; or
● ordinary wear or normal battery degradation that is consistent with the product’s age, use and reasonable expected performance.
Each claim will be assessed on its individual circumstances. Nothing in this section excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded.
9. How to Request a Return or Warranty Assessment
Before returning a product, contact Tech Mate Hub with your order details and a short description of the issue or reason for return.

10. Policy Updates
Tech Mate Hub may update this policy to reflect changes in our store practices, products or legal requirements. The current version will be published on our website with its latest update date. Updates will not be used to remove statutory rights relating to purchases already made.
Customer rights note: This policy is intended to work alongside the Australian Consumer Law. If any part of this policy conflicts with a right that cannot legally be excluded, the applicable law prevails.
